Chik

John, Evan and Marshall went with the rest of the team to Chikenkata, south of Lusaka. ACTION Zambia was given some land to be used for street kid camps and short-term teams. The weekend we went was the grand opening of the well on the property, which is a big deal because it provides water for local villages. During the day, a goat was killed and cooked, the head man from the nearest village cut the ribbon for the well pump, and the celebration lasted all day.

In School Again

Have you noticed that we've been posting about the fun places we've been and the neat things we've done? That makes for good blog material, I think. This posting is about what we've really been doing for weeks and what we'll be doing for weeks to come. We've been in orientation sessions and Nyanja class as a team for 4 hours a day, 3 days a week! It makes for long days and very hard work but it is time well spent.

I've never been Pentecostal but I find myself praying for the gift of tongues. Seriously, pray for progress for us in learning Nyanja.

Update on Alpha Destination School

Remember the school Noel and the kids have been going to to read to the children? We just heard that a church in Wash. State has provided money for desks and curriculum for this school. As soon as the desks are finished being built, we'll take a picture and put it on the blog!

A Party for Brenda

Brenda Saville, a new missionary on our team from New Zealand, celebrated her birthday with us yesterday. By the way, she is Nathan's newest favorite adult. We celebrated Star Wars style complete with a Storm Trooper cake. If you think you see two Han Solos you are right!

Malawi

A couple of weeks ago, John and Keith Stranberg drove to Malawi to pick up the Burns family. Chet and LeAnne Burns and their eight children moved to Malawi to start a new field for ACTION. There have been some starts and starts in their paperwork so they needed to come back to Lusaka for a short time. The pictures are of John at Lake Malawi and of some Malawians making a traditional shield and spears.
